Educators and Parents love the realistic doll fashions from My World Ethnic Doll Clothing!

 Hi Josie,
I was so excited when I saw your contest and thrilled that I won.
I'll take doll #6 instead, I didn't realize that was the doll in the photo. They are both pretty cute.
I bought a bunch of 6 dolls from you at the TDSB Futures Conference. I bought the Islamic Girl Outfit with the Hijab, African Girl Outfit with Headwrap, Pakistani girl outfit with shalwar kameez and dupatta,
Korean girl outfit, Irish Girl Outfit and a larger Japanese girl outfit with kimono and obi.

The looks on my students faces when the saw them was amazing. They were just so excited, it was a mob of little girls and boys wanting to play with the dolls. One of the little girls in my class (her family hails from Tibet) carried Doll#1 around for the entire day. At the end of the day, she wouldn't leave with her mom until she made sure that the dolls would still be there the next day lol. I'm really looking forward to using these dolls as a part of teaching social justice issues next year.

Thanks,
Stacey

One of our main uses of our "babies" is in our language curriculum. The kids learn to use voice in their writing when they take a baby home for the weekend and journal about what they did. Most of the kids take on the voice of the doll and write from that perspective. When the baby comes back to school they read their adventures to the class, which is useful in their oral communication marks. The babies have been to dance classes, hockey games, various cities in Ontario and the States, numerous restaurants (Sheraz, our baby from Afghanistan, is never allowed to eat pork ;)....waaaay more adventures than me! They are also great buddy readers and study partners and comforters when someone is hurt. Love, love, love them! Josie....you ROCK!!!

"....I just wanted to thank you for getting my doll to me in such a speedy time frame. My grandson needed it for a school project and needless to say, he got an "A" on his project.....My grandson is 10 and the project was for Black History...Cultural Diversity...It included a Heritage Scrapbook...info. on the country of his ancestors...people, land, climate, and flag...a quilt made of fabric representing your ancestry (the size of a sheet of paper)...I made this by hand as it was a family project..interviews with 2 different Generations in his family on events that happened when they were growing up...and lastly, an Ancestor doll..dressed in garments representing the country....he was the only one in class that had a baby doll. He's so creative that he painted the box that the doll came in and used it as a baby carrier...complete with baby blanket...I added a handle made with an old purse strap for easy carrying. We had lot's of fun with this project and the doll looks like him...lol. Again, I say thank you."

"My two girls, ages 5 and 2, absolutely love dressing their beautiful dolls.  They are incredibly easy for their little hands to dress,
and thankfully even easier for mumma to wash and keep clean!  I'm amazed at the conversation My World Ethnic Doll Clothing has inspired between my 5 year old and I as we've spent quite some time talking and learning about different types of beauty, cultures, faiths, and tradition.  I'm proud to see my girls recognizing beauty in the big multi cultural city that they live in with the help of the small multi cultural dolls that they play with. "Working in the child care environment for years, I have seen many multicultural dolls. Josie’s dolls made an impression. The fabrics, design, rich details, and most importantly, love and passion that is instilled into the products, made the dolls playable and enjoyable.

It was incredible to see how caring and observant children were when utilizing the dolls into a “house” play. One of the boys, who imitated the father’s role, was dressing up his child to go to the mosque, stating that he is wearing the same clothes when he goes to the mosque with his family on the weekends. The doll’s costume helped the child to make a connection to real daily experiences.

There are no doubts in my mind that Josie’s dolls not only represent other ethnicities but most of all they invite children to enrich their imagination skills, emphasize similarities and teach tolerance and respect."

"I purchased some dolls and outfits from the conference recently. When we put them in to the program the response was heart warming – one little girl who sometimes struggles in the program saw a doll dressed in an outfit that represented her culture. Although she did not say anything she immediately picked up that doll and smiled. Her eyes clearly expressed the connection she had made with that doll. We are now placing an order to try to ensure the children in our centre are also able to make those connections.

Our children come from diverse backgrounds – Africa, Asia, Portugal, Italy,Japan, Korea, Costa Rica, Peru, Jamaica & the Caribbean, Philippines, Ghana, Brazil, Afghanistan as well as Canada ( including Aboriginal ). We have tried to ensure all of the children can identify with the outfits they may be familiar with, not necessarily every day but worn on special occasions."Frances Mendez Barcelo

We did a character study today and started a new bulletin board for Asian Heritage Month! The kids really felt for Unhei. The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi is quite the book! Tomorrow we will read My Name is Yoon....great empathy and conversation.
